Developing our Sacred Sense:
Living From the Inside Out

On the material level, we speak of our five senses. Our spiritual, or sacred, sense is our “sixth” sense. As we age, we become more conscious and aware of our spirit and the sacred sense of life. As a child, we naturally lived out of and expressed our sacred sense.  As an adult, most of us developed patterns of living that focused on the material level of life, including our roles, responsibilities, duties, and daily tasks required to maintain and sustain our relationships and livelihoods. In our second half of life, we are presented with opportunities to re-focus and identify more with the presence and power of Spirit in our lives.

Through this workshop, opportunities will be created for participants to experience and develop a deeper sense of Spirit and sacredness. Ways of perceiving life differently will not only be discussed, but also practiced. We often view ourselves as standing between two worlds — the inner and outer, the material and the spiritual — and feel like we have to choose one or the other. This workshop will present an alternate way of perceiving and experiencing our sacred sense: of standing in the presence of God and living from the inside out. From this holy place, all our lifeways and functions are fused and infused with the sacred sense of being more than a spiritual person. Our identity gently shifts and sustains us as being a personal spirit, embodied to express God’s love and tenderness.

Practicing the Presence of God

This workshop will assist participants in beginning and developing a meditation practice and assist practitioners in deepening their way of meditation. The second half of life is a time to create the balance and harmony that we have longed for.

The practice of meditation provides a way to be the wisdom that we know is true, but have yet to fully experience and comprehend. Through meditation, we learn to “rest in God” and experience the stillness and comfort of the sacred presence in our lives. As we develop a deeper sense of the Great Presence, we are transformed and transfigured. Our own lives are changed and this change is expressed in all our relations. The quality of our lives and contributions is deepened and broadened. We become more open to being guided and guiding.

In a highly practical and interactive way, the workshop will provide experiences to learn, develop, and deepen one’s meditation practice and moment-by-moment living in the presence of God.
