Is this all there is? Are the skills and satisfactions of the spring and summer of life only prelude to decline? Or, rather, are there new depths to discover in the autumn and winter years? New modes of releasing what no longer serves. New ways to dwell in the depth and freshness of life. New ways to come home to ourselves in beauty and freedom.

Focused on the second half of life and drawing upon the spiritual gifts and practices of the seasons — especially autumn and winter — the key reminder of this day is we already have all we seek. The workshop will be participatory throughout in gentle and inviting ways. It will use poetry and ritual, pair and group exercises with times of sharing, in order to amplify what is emerging within each participant and within the group.  Participants will leave with a set of practical skills to use immediately in daily living.

John G. Sullivan, Ph.D., is Powell Professor of Philosophy Emeritus at Elon University in NC where he taught for 36 years. He is also principal designer of a master’s degree program for adult learners at Tai Sophia Institute in Laurel, MD, where he continues to teach. The author of two books, To Come to Life More Fully: An East-West Journey (1990) and Living Large: Transformative Work at the Intersection of Ethics and Spirituality (2004), John’s abiding interest is the place where psychology, philosophy, and spirituality — East, West, and beyond — intersect and mutually enhance one another.

The cost of this workshop is $95. The fee includes lunch.
